Macramé & Weaving for Young Artists (Ages 9 to 15)

€140.00
Date & Time:

Explore knotting, weaving, and creative textile design

This creative textile course introduces young artists to the art of macramé, hand weaving, and the exciting combined technique known as macraweave — where knotting and weaving are brought together in one design.

Designed for ages 9 to 15, the course develops coordination, patience, and creative confidence while teaching structured textile techniques in a supportive studio environment. Students will explore how threads and fibres can be transformed into decorative artworks through repetition, pattern, and thoughtful colour choices.

Beginning with foundational knots and simple weaving structures, participants will gradually combine both techniques into layered, textured textile pieces.

No prior experience is required.

What Students Will Learn

  • Understand the difference between knotting and weaving — and how they work structurally.

  • Master essential macramé knots — including square knots, half hitches, and spiral variations.

  • Learn fundamental weaving techniques — understanding warp and weft structure and maintaining even tension.

  • Explore macraweave techniques — combining knots and woven sections within the same artwork.

  • Experiment with colour, layering, and texture — developing personal design choices.

  • Complete original textile artworks — from guided studies to a more independent final piece.
