This 10-week Sketching Masterclass is designed to help young artists improve their drawing skills while exploring the subjects they love—whether that’s real life, fantasy worlds, animals, or manga.
Students will learn how to see like an artist and turn simple sketches into more realistic and detailed drawings using shading, proportion, and observation techniques. Each session introduces new skills in a fun and approachable way, with plenty of room for creativity and personal style.
Throughout the course, students will:
Improve how they see and draw shapes, proportions, and details
Learn shading techniques to make drawings look more 3D and realistic
Explore textures like hair, fabric, and natural surfaces
Understand perspective and how to create depth
Practice drawing real-life objects and references
Build stronger character and feature drawing skills
Learn how to approach more challenging subjects step by step
Apply these skills to their own interests (e.g. manga, fantasy, characters)
Students are encouraged to adapt each topic to subjects they enjoy, making every session both structured and creative.
Students aged 9–14
Beginners who want to improve their drawing skills
Students who already enjoy sketching and want to get better
Anyone interested in drawing characters, fantasy, or realistic subjects
No prior experience is needed—groups are kept small and students will be supported at their own level.
Mode of Study: Once weekly (1.5 hours for each lesson)
Duration: 10 Lessons
Location: Art Academy Nadur (Triq Agius de Soldanis Nadur, Gozo)
Requirements: Ages 9+, Students must bring their own art materials
What’s Included: Hands-on teaching and individual attention
Language: The course is taught in Maltese and/or English depending on student preference.
