The Teens Sewing Course is a fun and structured introduction to sewing designed specifically for young beginners. Whether students are completely new to sewing or already curious about fashion and design, this course builds confidence through hands-on practice, creative projects, and step-by-step guidance.
Over 10 engaging lessons, students will learn both hand sewing and machine sewing techniques, understand fabrics and patterns, and progress all the way to creating their own wearable garment.
What You’ll Learn
Sewing Basics: Understand the basics of sewing, tools, and safety
Hand Stitching: Master essential hand stitches including running stitch, backstitch, and slip stitch
Construction Skills: Learn how to sew buttons, use zippers, and reinforce seams
Machine Sewing: Get confident using a sewing machine, including threading, bobbin setup, and stitch control
Pattern Reading: Learn how to read and use sewing patterns
Fabric Knowledge: Understand fabric types, grain, and how to choose the right material
Garment Design: Take body measurements and design a simple garment
Project Making: Create and complete two real sewing projects from start to finish
This course is designed to be hands-on, creative, and confidence-building, giving children real sewing experience while developing practical fashion skills. By the end, students will not only understand how sewing works but will also be able to create their own simple garments independently.
Course Details
Duration: 10 Lessons
Location: Art Academy Mosta (131, Constitution Street, Mosta) or Art Academy Zurrieq (88, Triq Matteolo Saliba, Zurrieq)
Requirements: Students will need to bring their own sewing supplies, including a sewing machine. Ages 9+
What’s Included: Hands-on teaching, individual attention
Certification: Upon attendance of 80% of the Course, students will be given a Certificate of Attendance
Language: The course is taught in English
In the case the case that due to unforeseen circumstances that the teacher is unavailable, the course will shift by a week.
